Frequently Asked Questions
Cartomisers / Atomisers
What does Standard and Low resistance (Ohms value) mean?
This is not something that you need to worry too much about but basically each cartomiser/atomiser/clearomiser has a resistance (ohms) value. Different values can change the characteristics of the draw, vapour, flavour and battery life.
1.5 - 2.2 Ohm Low Resistance (LR)This is generally considered to be a Low Resistance (LR) value. They burn at a higher temperature and produce more vapour and throat hit. The extra heat of course requires extra power, so it's worth noting that batteries will drain faster when using lower resistance cartomizers. The additional heat can have an effect on the flavour too, so these are well suited to tobacco flavours although it really does come down to individual preference.
2.4 - 2.8 Ohm Standard Resistance (SR)This is generally considered to be a Standard Resistance (SR) value. They burn within a "standard" temperature range, use a "standard" amount of battery power and produce "standard" taste and vapour amounts. No surprise really that they are considered Standard Resistance then!
Of course there are higher values of resistance too but you may also find that only one or two types are available for your clearomiser/atomiser. If you do have a choice, then which type to use really does come down to individual preference. Experiment to find what suits you best.
